I recently went to China for a jade stone auction in Ping Zhou, Guangdong Province. The auction of jade stones imported from Burma was conducted in a closed bid. The raw stones in the pictures below give you an idea of what the stones are like before being made into jewelry. It was an interesting experience!

    An uncut stone purchased

The experienced master is cutting the stone

The stone after cut. You will see the base of this opaque Burmese jade stone is actually white with patches of green and black colours in it. A lot of people have the misconception that jade is born entirely green. If it were the case, coloured jade stones of high transparency would not have been so pricy.
